THEME : PROMOTING SKILLS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT |
|
National Conference on "Shaping India 2030: Sustainable Development and Socio-economic Perspectives and Challenges". [23rd-24th March 2017] Amity School of Economics, Amity University, Noida organized a National Conference to support the UN Program of Sustainable Development Goals. |
|
|
|
The conference focuses on addressing the issue of Sustainable development and more specifically aims to encourage and motivate young budding research scholars to understand the intricacies of Sustainable development and undertake the challenges of working on this paradigm. To generate wide spread awareness regarding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and suggesting Economic policy initiatives with regard to sustainable development for India were also the prime agenda of the National Conference.
The President of USD Consortium, Ms Renu Bajpai represented USD Consortium in this Conference and chaired a session as one of the Panelist in the discussion on above mentioned theme.
OUR VIEWS ON SUSTAINABILITY DEVELOPMENT GOALS :
We sincerely believe that there can be no sustainable development (SD) without quality education & learning. Sustainability cannot be developed and imposed on a community by someone outside that community. It needs to be developed with the assistance of outside experts and implemented by the community itself or it will not work.
SD is an agenda "of the people, by the people, and for the people, "and people will only be able to own the agenda if they are aware of it.

ROUND TABLE CONFERENCE (RTC) CONDUCTED BY TARA IN COLLABORATION WITH UNDP
|
|
Theme - Drivers For Employment And Entrepreneurship
Capacities & Technologies.
USD Consortium got the opportunity to participate in this RTC and discussed the probable solutions addressing livelihood challenges faced by Indian youth after training & Skiling.
While the world Grows older, India is becoming younger. With 54% of its population (over 600 million) aged below 25 yrs, and with 2nd largest workforce in the world after China, there is a definite need to re-define the relationship of education, employment & Skill Development.
India´s (formally) skilled workforce is approx. 2% which is dismally low compared to China (47%), Japan (80%) and South Korea (96%). So to avoid this demographic dividend from becoming a liability, the country needs to leverage its young population more meaningfully & substantially through a stronger focus on skill development and sincere discussions on Enablers for Employment & Entrepreneurship .
In this regard, a Round Table Conference (RTC) was conducted by TARA in collaboration with UNDP in UNDP office, Lodhi Estate on 21st September, 2016
involving ground level practitioners, experts, technology partners,Pvt. Sector heads ,policy makers & Govt. representatives. |
